no more lookin' from below, but looking from above.

6 weeks abroad has led me to learn and experience so much, that textbooks can never teach. I know others who have been on exchange etc and who became increasingly dissatisfied with the way things are here. It's not that the pasture is greener on the other side.. it's just the realisation that our priorities are mismatched with the system. However, home is still Singapore. The desire to spend a long time away is only because of the knowledge that returning is a certainty.

Reflection #1:

Window seat - my fav.
Lets you be isolated from the rest of the passengers,
Immersed in the scenery outside.

As I looked out from the plane on my return journey, I was awed by the beautiful clouds after clouds. Pure and white. Simple and sweet. Out of the corner of my eyes, a deep realisation struck me. I saw the wing of a huge machine, so lifeless and rigid. It moved nothing like a bird. What's that machinery doing up there? God certainly did not intend for such an invasion when He created His masterpiece.

This is not about how technology has become so invasive but the undeniable rapid progress of science. While we cannot stop that progress, what we can do is prevent the invasion of technology in our daily lives, taking time with our loved ones. It's a pity how in a family, each member watches his or her shows, working on their personal computers or idling in their individual rooms.
Our generation is always complaining of a gap and doing nothing while our parents are always trying to close that gap. When they do that, we complained further. Having your parents as your facebook friends would probably be an embarrassment. Yet, we always say they would not/never try to learn/know what we are doing even if we tell them. If they are learning things which would naturally be slower for them, why don't we learnt things that they like? We would surely be faster, right? oh, the narcissism of our generation. Anyway, self-criticism outside, let's do something before time runs out

it's okay if you can't see the road ahead, just make sure God is still in sight!!

In His time, in His time,
He makes all things beautful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day,
As You're teaching me Your way,
That You do just what You say, in Your time.
In Your time, in Your time,
You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring.
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing, in Your time.
