Last week: All Chelsea had to do was to win when Man U drew. Yet Chelsea ended up in a draw.
Yesterday: All Chelsea had to do was to add on to their 2-1 lead while Man U was 0-2 down. Yet the worst-case scenario (a total 180 degrees change) happened. Now it is a 5-points gap. Got nothing to say since nothing can be changed. The chance was there but you just sat down there, wasting time away and doing nothing. Yesyes, you know what you want to do and had to do but at that critical point, you didn't execute the intended plan. You had a brillant speech in mind yet could only utter silence? bleah -.- waiting for a third opportunity? Open up your dry eyes and face reality. The title could have been already lost.
Reaching the extreme of emotions, we seemed to have this extra boundless energy which can be used in different ways:
1) Violence - a violent tendency towards others or the wall (or a punching bag). - usually not deadly at all, but just a want to release the pent-up frustrations
2) Food therapy - a senseless need of eating to keep one from thinking even when the food taste worse (than my cooking lol) - usually found in girls since it is difficult to tell from a guy's appetite.
3) Retail therapy - spending without a care in an attempt to make oneself happy (/reward oneself) - again usually found in girls since guys are rational(?) enough to be practical
4) Endurance of pain/fear - try doing something that you would not fathom yourself doing before and you probably realise you can now because your threshold of pain/fear has increased - it's the belief of what can be worst than the current feeling
5) Words - the most hurtful things are being said because there is no self control - it's the once-and-for-all mentality
6) Sports therapy - to work off the adrenaline building up inside (cool down) - make yourself real tired so that you can't even reflect
7) Work - it's the numbing effect
8) Sleep - the self-delusion that everything will be alright in the morning (it's only a nightmare) - also a good way to break away from the current mood
9) Crying therapy - it's an admittance of their emotions though many do it privately
10) The worship therapy
The above 9 ways seem to be hurting yourself/others or about running away. However, this tenth way is about surrendering all your troubles to Him and He will take care of the rest.
Babies adapt so fast and so well because they are predisposed to learn and because they respond particularly strongly to certain types of events: contingencies -- what goes together with what; discrepancies -- differences from the norm; and transactions -- interactions with others
Once you know what to expect, then discrepancies become fascinating -- provided they are not too radical. Small changes in a child's world invite exploration and help the child to learn, but if everything is suddenly disrupted then the child becomes seriously stressed. In the same way, different ways of singing the song become interesting once you know its basic pattern. This ability to learn by making distinctions is lasting and fundamental. Older people are better at new learning when they already have relevant stored knowledge and are therefore noticing and adjusting to discrepancies, but worse at learning something completely new. (from Psychology: A very short introduction)
Then why:
No matter how many times babies fell while trying to walk, they never give up. No matter how difficult it is for adolescents to speak and be understood by grown-ups, they still want to talk.
However, when we grow up, we seemed to have lost that gung-ho, never-say-die spirit in the different issues we faced now. It's not as if we are learning something new. It is just continuing hurling yourself (imagine an egg) against the stone while having the mentality that your shell will never crack. Somehow we no longer do (or at least not as steadfast as babies in having the mentality).. perhaps knowing how fragile the egg is actually
Small changes in a child's world invite exploration and help the child to learn, but if everything is suddenly disrupted then the child becomes seriously stressed
Don't leave just like that, taking the deep attachment away. The hole left behind is bigger than can be imagined.
Bak Gua LIM CHEE GUAN BCH can't be compared to LCG. The latter's meat is chewy & has the spicy version. I have not try the other 2 shops(Fragrance & don't know what) so I got no comment.
He Ji Bao Al says that I'm brand-conscious. Well, I am not. Perhaps I'm just brand-loyal (people-loyal too..) All I know is their ba bao/ha kau brought me much warmth on a cold, cold night. & their food is really good (really, al.)
By the way, Gluttonsquare is for the gluttons. You are warned!
And why do Hans keep springing up new outlets? I don't understand -- the food is average and the service is bad..
On a happier note, GWP's annual durian fiesta is back! Go satisfy your durianpetite.
Have you ever thought how people sometimes allow their love for non-living things consume their love for living things?
Examples of the non-living things: pride, anger, jealousy, food, clothes(/material goods), sleep, etc. The list can go on..
Perhaps perhaps only when the living become non-living (physically), do we realise that we actually cherish the living things muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh more.. and it takes a non-living thing to show us that??
Nowadays, I feel like getting a month/year break from here:(
perhaps to
Romania -- the pace of life there is really slow where drivers actually stop their cars so that you can literally jaywalk. Compare this to being honked at where you just lingered for a mere few seconds during the red man.
or perhaps to
Hallyu land. annyeong-haseyo. You can even learn taekwondo there as a tourist!!
& perhaps to England to watch my team playing LIVE
However, what caught me was this awesome scene in newcastle (in the movie GOAL!). I just love the endless horzions where only the sky and the sea meet. This is most unlikely here where you will just be grateful if there is no rubbish floating around or if there is mist to cover up the silhouette of the island nearby.
& hopefully to the Swiss Alps
to be able to wake up to a breathtaking scenery every day (and not to the next block of flats);
to live in a cottage with it's own chimney (waiting for santa to give me my presents) and a fireplace while it is snowing outside.
(alternatively, a stay by the countryside would suffice too :)
Realised that I was reminiscing about my best pingpong days(j1) in the previous entry because the next day I went down to catch my juniors in action (which I forgot to mention as I just wanted to go to lalaland) as they won vj. Apparently, my brain cannot multi-task as well. That is why even when I have lots to say, my brain can just freeze at the moment and not mention anything because 1) I'm keeping up with the current convo or 2) distractions or 3) I didn't seize the opportunity when I could & now how do I bring it up again or 4) how to put my thoughts into words. Then the next moment that I'm not occupied, all the thoughts come running back..
Yesh & the match itched me to pick up my bat that very moment.
Anyway, what could really sum up the monthssssssss: yesterday I was really really distraught about an incident until my dad came back with my letter: Heh I got the usp interview *big grinz* though I'm fretting over my first (ever ?) interview.. 26, pls don't come so soon. Then today, I got back to the incident though it wasn. *rollercoaster emotional ride*
Though it's pardner only entry, it was a stylio one.

CHICKEN RICE Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice Maxwell Food Centre

NASI LEMAK Adam Food Centre Interesting menus they got there with names such as royal flush & full house. Though the chilli could have been made more spicy, the rice, ikan bilis & even my favourite sunny side-up (it was actually crispy!?!) was just !lemak! (which means delicious in malay)

SECRET RECIPE There's a reason why it is more known for the desserts (especially for the cheesecakes). The main courses are just not up to standard nor worth the above-average prices. Here's what I recommend: eat your fill elsewhere first & if you are still itching for something, then satisfy your sweet buds there.
THAI EXPRESS One attempt there was enough. I forgot which dishes I tried but they convinced me not to give the others another chance.
After seeing the ST' (4Mar'07) article about foodie blogs, (no I am not starting a food blog) I decided to recommend some of my personal favourites. Check this blog out for the delicious food around Singapore. (haha though I think there are some good food not being introduced there yet) If not for this blog, I would not have know there's a newly opened seafood restaurant selling CRAB bee hoon!! nearby my house.. YAY! :) (even though I still haven't try it)
a short minute walk between this 2 fields saw a self-inflicted injury, a well-taken shot followed by a flying save, stray balls & a ball flying over my head.. guess where this is ;) I think it's very obvious
that was on the way to a primary school gathering & ooohhh how much we have grown since 6 years ago.. except me. I could have been the star in my own sitcom 'Honey, I shrunk myself.' amidst their claims that I have shrunk (erhm this means they have become much bigger lol)
Also, I found out GMPS is gonna be renamed GMSP. *disgusted look* Names are important!! Have I say how I used to spend up to 20 mins just thinking of names for the characters in my compositions? heh that's why my endings are rather abrupt..
Here's us in quiet Swensen last Wednesday:
& after that, back at our rooftop haunt for our time of 'truths'
had been a busy week while trying to get my usp essay done (at least not that last minute this time ;)
Did umpiring for the first time. Boy, how stressing it can be! Now I will probably think twice before shouting 'What's the ref doing? blah blah..' Perhaps certain top-tier managers could do some umpiring before shooting their mouths off. But then again, it's a totally different feeling watching games from the stands..
& it doesn't excuse any refs (*cough cough* graham poll) from dishing out 3 yellow cards to a player in a single game. Actually, I prefer being the spectator anytime. 'Ref! Can't you see that's a penalty!!'
Nevermind. There's still the second away-leg at Valencia with this 1-1 draw.. till then, good morning!!
I have to blog this down. The (used-to-be) ultimate slacker has matured to become disciplined and responsible. I was like 'Wow! Is this you?' after the chat. & I never knew you to adore children so much..
This reminds me when lj mentioned this of me (a year ago): guess who's next? haha i just mentioned today. So i wasn't the only one who sensed the HUGE change. yeah the well-known 'suan-er' in cgtt no longer suans people! ahaha okay that's not my point. i first noticed her change through the vast difference in our MSN conversations. things we talk about. her views on certain issues. her maturity in thought. i really couldn't quite match the words to her face. maybe it's the religion or the peer influence like you said, but i guess whatever the reason, i believe she has found her goal in life through god =) i'm truly amaze how faith in a religion can change a person this much.
heh actually I never thought I have changed that much to others. I meant I still shoot my mouth off so naturally that sometimes I think I have a talent for suaning people. Perhaps I am changed because I try to tone it down and learn to hold back though there was never any malice to begin with. & because there's less teasing about, I've shown my more serious and matured side which used to be overshadowed (delibrately) by my kiddingness lol.
However, with seriousness come responsibilities I never knew, and well hurtful words are my new enemies :(
Ecclesiates 3:7 'a time to tear, & a time to sew; a time to keep silence, & a time to speak'
I have to learn to know when to do what and not to go to extremes because words can be so detrimental. Having a newly found freedom doesn't mean I can abuse it.. Learning it through the hard way can be so cruel but well, I am learning..
it's okay if you can't see the road ahead, just make sure God is still in sight!!
In His time, in His time,
He makes all things beautful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day,
As You're teaching me Your way,
That You do just what You say, in Your time.
In Your time, in Your time,
You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring.
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing, in Your time.
