I'm being forced to change to beta!! No more freedom of choice? It's funny how people make decision for me for my supposedly good when I am not even consulted. Perhaps it is an excuse, perhaps there is something deeper but I will not know because I am not told.
Before you think I'm back to my short-lived passions again, I'm not. I really do want to get the black belt.. but well, it's a looooooooong story (a forgotten pet-phrase that should have never left).
Actually whatever I took up, I never meant it to be short. Sometimes, only when you been through it then you will realise if it's really what you want.
So many looooooong stories (ok maybe not that many but it feels a lot): Though the settings may be different, the kind of decision needed seems uncannily similar ('xcept the varying degrees).
even if the peranakan food here was so not up to any expectations (& it has been around since my dad's time.. I wondered how they survived the business).
no bakwang soup & the bergedil was so :X ... that hc canteen version is much betterlol
ps: happy birthday sis!! you are 21 I'm still 18.. I know you do come here. Enjoy your i-pod shuffle :D
yay singapore got through to the finals after an exciting penalty shootout!! (my favourite) which unfortunately I didn't manage to watch a single moment at all. I was preparing to run home just to catch a glimpse of the shootout.. heh guess what?!? I was distracted by some miscommunication with my mum & (contrary to what we have thought: that our bus stop is popular, meaning ==> others will help us press the bell) nobody pressed the bell!! & the next thing I knew was that the bus zoomed to the next stop lol *amusement*
however, thanks to poh I had some updates & even if I had run home, I couldn't catch any glimpse because it ended fast with a Lewis save.
National Stadium.. here I come muahaha (I hope.. .. ..)
It's gonna be 1am & I been awake for like 18hours straight, spending the whole day out. That's a record for this year haha.. Been slacking so much that I feel tired even when going out to enjoy lol.. & not sleeping rest because I know if I procastinate now, you won't see this entry.
Went to take my BTT early in the morning. I was surprised when I step into the driving centre because I saw a young lady sitting in the passenger seat while a matured man was at the wheels. First thought: cool!! a lady instructor.. second thought: haha hoped that mine will be a female too.. On a closer look, I realised that the man was the instructor because he was dressed like all the other instructors. Final thought: no female instructor? If that's the case, then the guys shouldn't complain that girls can't drive well because it's you guys who passed us (me? soon.. this year heh;p cher how about you??).
Am I a sexist or having double standards? That's what phoebe(feeee) commented after I said something (which we both can't remember!!) Why is it that when I need to recall certain random stuffs like now, I can't. But those feelings that I try to numb away just keep coming back. Maybe because there is always that stimulating/stimulator effect. Anyway (back to the something I forgotten what & still cannot remember), I was saying something along this lines: A girl can don't know how to swim or cycle but a guy must be able to do so. haah maybe fee's right because I will never have this thought: A guy can don't know how to cook but a girl must be able to do so.
When it was still under construction..
but Fort Canning Tunnel is opened!! haha I don't know why but I'm always excited to go into tunnels.. perhaps it can blocked out the landscape from me & all I can see is ahead. Though it's restricted, there's a spacey feeling. & no! not mrt that kind of tunnels.
Had a manicure while watching Full House (not again but only those I missed). Wanted to take pic but my hp camera is no longer working.. argh!! Now it's useless to take a pic because only 3 & 1/2 nails are still intact as my manicurist (hehe) is just a trainee (oops) Here's something I saw from her blog: please be truthful to someone if you love him/her; that doesn't mean that you have to pour your hearts out, just don't lie or try to keep your real agenda under wraps.it'll backfire, definitely. (In a different context) Perhaps it does.. but self-protection is needed to hide the vulnerability
I know what the movie wants to portray. However, it didn't hit me in the same multitude it did for the others. The emotional scenes weren't given enough screen time to build up. I need to really feel it to feel it lol. The words hit me the most then the vivid images. Also, it seems to throw a cold and brutal truth straight in my face with all the violence. & it's just not my style of receiving.. As the chinese proverb goes: wo shi chi luan bu chi ying. Translated to my version: I eat wet gravy~ied rice(soft) & not plain dry rice (hard). Perhaps this analogy is not very good but yesh I like to talk in riddles.. Throw a stone at me & I will return it to you; Throw a cushion at me and I will hug it.
hmm I realised that the more I try to explain, the further it is from what I originally intended. Perhaps that's why I did and should hold my peace sometimes..Wah!! it's 230 now.. I took a pretty long time. if only now I can sleep as long as I had been awake. (20 hours!! bleah :)
As I said previously, the way Chelsea played 'whet' my appetite even though I was not at all hungry. Eating seems to take away something (as usual I am being cryptic here). It seems but it doesn't. I watched the other titan match at a prata shop in Serangoon with many other strangers & smoky air.. AND 2 man u fans heh. Even though man u was leading at first, it didn't make me desire for food. Perhaps I think Chelsea can overcome a 9-pt deficit anyway (haha I'm not being arrogant!) ronaldo didn't score (or perform) & that's the best result for me. Anyway auntie, I can understand how you feel (at the last-minute header) because it was horrible for me the day before.
This is the success story of 2 cheesecakes. heh I know appearance-wise they don't look that tempting but trust me.. they are absolutely cheesilicious. Mi (who had just woken up 15mins before) checking out the oreo cheesecake. The other one is the blueberry flavour.. haha I just don't like berries. period. Fine, no electric egg-beater. But manual egg-beater rocks!!! :D muahahaha
yesh, even though.. oops! I whipped it for less than 5 minutes. no strength or rather no determination or plain lazy it's your call..
As for me, if something gets too uncomfortable for me (or is restricting me), a permanent time-out is needed. The main difficulty lies in calling it. Perhaps that's why my passion appears to be so short-lived? Or maybe it isn't the passion but the fact that after having those experiences, I know what is for me and what's not. It's better for an early shower than to prolong anything if there's no obligations. However, there are times when I do not want to yet the signs seems to be showing me the door. Staying nowhere means going nowhere & as much as I like to build castles in the air, I hate to float around aimlessly. Before you think I am some fickle-minded person, I actually tend to be an 'extremist'. I will not smile like a chesire cat if it's not true happiness. Similarly, unless it's unbearable sadness or pain, you won't find me crying. It's either all or nothing for me.
Like all my essays or conversations, I love to side-track or jump from one topic to another with the most absurd links that you all think they are but which are perfectly coherent to me (at least at that point of time). & now to the masses who don't have the same train of thoughts, here I go again:
THE five languages of love: Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service & Physical Touch; the five languages of apology: Expressing Regret, Accept Responsibility, Make Restitution, Genuinely Repent & Request Forgiveness; 16pf or DISC personality tests: Dominance, Influence, Steadiness & Compliance
All these can help to understand better the type of personality one is & one's behaviour under certain situations.. But if you never know what makes someone tick, you never realise what makes someone smile too. For one thing is too obvious, it had never been a b0ther.
It's half-time now and the scoreline is horrendous.. The makeshift central partnership is like superb shaky during the first 25 minutes. I was so prepared to enjoy myself. Watching the way they had played made me went searching for food again.. (if you can understand why)
in a short while of time: -discman earpiece (r) spoilt -hp camera/video spolit -mp3 earpiece (l) spoilt -camera video has no sound.. *spoilt* & whatever that is printed from my comp is no longer black but pink!! When it's happy, it will just print the first page. If not, nothing will be printed.
technology always disappoint? well at least we have this soon!
5 years of technology ahead. but hafta wait till 2008 & may not even come to Singapore.. Meanwhile, gotta be practical.. that is to get a new hp with a functioning camera/video. heh it's much easier to zi pai (take pics lol) with a hp than a camera..
Made cheesecake with fee. It was her first and my third time! & I actually forgot that to make the base one must use butter instead of cheese. (actually, what's the difference between cheese and butter?!? I still don't get it.) Her grinder was like so big that we took only 10 mins for the digestive biscuits part. I took about an hour with my pathetic small grinder. & I need to say this!!: Fee used a manual egg-beater and managed to whip the filling (sugar+cheese) till light & fluffy very quickly. Check this out!
from this
TO.. ..
this!!
Also, we didn't have any measuring stuffs so the amount of ingredients added were basically guessing work. It turned out good.. only abit on the sweet part. Fee's the pro *drumroll* there's plan for an oreo cheesecake or u can tag what flavour cheesecake we can try heh
since we are on food, let's go on to more food haha
yum yum!! this may look like instant noodles but is actually my favourite homecooked golden mushrooms (with prawns)
this week's round~up (part I): It is gonna be a looooooooong post. I'm still much a free-lancer & slacking around. No more waiting (..for nothing actually :x) Must make good use of this time. This kinda long holidays will only be like once in a lifetime. No rush to work anyway since I will probably spend the latter half of my life doing that.
Been out every day this week.. *tired* I know I will get a few stares for this haha but after sleeping for 12 hours for some days, I am no longer satisfied with 7-hours sleep. I really wondered how my mum can managed only a few hours of sleep each day (as she's a full-time homemaker and worker lol) *admiration*
I'm glad I am under PAP and not in PP constituency after these few days of heavy downpour. There is shelter provided all the way from my house to the bus-stop. No need to carry a brolly around at least. I'm the type who rather walk in the rain(of course it can't be too heavy) than taking the trouble to bring one. Thanks to Auntie!! for lending me the brolly tho' if not I would had a free bath that day(expected the rain to stop after non-stop for 24 hours but it didn't) & I realised something: I been seeing auntie for 6 consecutive days haha
raining reminds mi of days at hc. these 2 days of torrent rain must have caused massive floodings there.. I guessed class benches have to be shifted in because the rain would be splashin' in
Had my first lesson at BM. I joined the youth module right.. however I was probably the youngest there. No wonder they said Singapore has an aging population. By my estimation, the average age of this youth class was probably 29? Ok, that's beside the point. This school has a direction & that is playing to worship & no matter how old one is, one can do it as long as there is a heart to serve. Thought all along left hand was for chords, but my first lesson was playing the chords with my right hand and the left hand was the bass.
had dumplings, wantons, xiao long bao with.. *peek-a-boo*
AHPO!! Here's something she attempted:
haha :) actually we just had too many dumplings, wanton & xiaolongbao that day.
At the Singapore Science Centre "Genome" section, there was an interesting fact: People with dimples on at least one side of the face tend to be more dominant compared to those without. The same also applies to those who are able to roll and fold their tongue. (just to set the record straight. I didn't actually went to SSC. Read this in ST.)
I have a slight dimple! heh & look at this!! I can roll my tongue..
okiez fine that ain't me. so just a teeny-bit dominant??
chanced upon this restaurant in opp Bugis J & they screen
ESPN channel!! They served local food and western snacks. We sat there and waited for a soccer match to start. That night was lpool vs watford. Just when the match was going to start soon.. they decided to play a vcd titled 'Monster House' to our horror (haha I watched that movie before) But anyway no lpool fans among us & the rest of the patrons weren't really excited about soccer, so we were alright just playing among ourselves.
A good place to chill out over soccer matches!! haha :p the place is called Bugis Sweet Memoirs.. & you find me there regularly? heh but there's not much variety for the food..
Healing Grace Merciful God and Father, loving us like no other Hear our prayer the cry of our hearts As we come to You We acknowledge our transgression We confess to You our sins Show us mercy and compassion Touch our lives with Your healing grace again
Release us from our past as we seek Your face Wash us free at last We receive Your love, we receive Your healing grace We receive Your love, we receive Your healing grace
I first sang this song in Primary 6. After that, I only could remembered the first line & been trying to find the song and title for a few years already (haha maybe I didn't try enough..)
Hafta wait till I get the cheesecake photos for my post for this week :)
Read this book on Color Psychology (it's never too early to start right?)
After some time, I found myself more interested in finding out which group I am in & whether the description matched me rather than how color affects us and our behaviour (just happily skipped this part).
Ever wondered why green is used in operating theatres? (There's a scientific reason. Ya! even in colors) Humans respond to all colors seen and thus, there is a deep need for harmony and balance. When the eye had been focused on one color for more than thirty seconds or so & then closes, or looks away, an after-image immediately presents itself in the complimentary color which restores balance in the eye. Hence, in this application, the green rests the inevitable dominance of red.
ah~ha didn't know that right? OK let's move on the less sleepy, more exciting part:
Spring: warm, light and friendly extroverts. Outgoing and gregarious. They are excellent communicators (but not at their best when confornted by anything 'heavy' or deep).
Summer: contained. Calm, cool and collected. Understated and crave order and balance. They do not find it necessary to comment on everything, but miss very little, as they are perceptive.
Autumn: Fiery and intense. Reject anything which might be invalid, flimsy or insubstantial. They are iniatially sceptical but once convinced will be passionately committed.
Winter: Perfectionists, efficient and forward-thinking. Need a sense of space. They do not indulge in tantrums or create drama because it is an innate quality in them.
Of course, no one is any one season at all. I am between ______ & ______! (tell me which ones you think I am.. quite obvious I think)
The four different seasons all have their colors which
just blend so beautifully..
No one else but God is capable of such wondrous NATURE! Isaiah 25:1 He is our God and has planned all things to perfection now and all eternity! So start the year knowing He has planned the whole year ahead of you :)
which came first.. the reasons or the intended actions?
You do something because you intend to do so and subconsciously provide reasons to convince yourself of itOR the circumstances lead you or to your consequent actions??
Someone is important because you say so & you try to prove it OR someone is not because it shows??

Of course, this is not an exhausitve list (nor a reflection). 2006. defining yet confusing. maturing yet still able to discover a deeper child within. It seems only yesterday that this and that happened. Such a fast-paced year that days feels like weeks and weeks like months. A feeling that you been through a lot.. but it's was only a year: 2006 With a blink of the eye, it's 2007!!
Looking forward to: keyboard~ing at Believer Music driving license (cher, waiting for your treat!!) Chelsea winning the EPL (poh, my steamboat!!), Champions League & Carling Cup Durian season :) psychology! SoL 1 NOT to look forward to: 7% GST CNY? end of the loong holidays ==> start of school using adult fares (it's sooooooooooooooooooo ex) & no more alighting without tapping out :x
One day at SPH for a photoshoot for TNP: lol but I appeared absolutely horribly cheerful in the picture that they (unfortunately) chose because 1) it was a candid shot 2) it showed us real happy with TNP copies.. & no! I am not going to gratify any one of you by posting that here.
GA: Now I can understand how it feels when lesser~than~less flattering shots of yourself appear in publications.
Actually, the photoshoot itself was quite fun. Just a tip to share: stay poised & keep that smile even if you are being tickled lol
After the photoshoot, we had a buffet dinner and then a tour around TNP office. Quite interesting to have a look at what each one of them actually does. haha but sadly for them, they have irregular working hours
it's okay if you can't see the road ahead, just make sure God is still in sight!!
In His time, in His time,
He makes all things beautful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day,
As You're teaching me Your way,
That You do just what You say, in Your time.
In Your time, in Your time,
You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring.
May each song I have to sing
Be to You a lovely thing, in Your time.
